Adelina Urbina

December 22, 1945 — March 4, 2022

Adelina Urbina, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on March 4th 2022 at the age of 76, in Loyola Hospital in Maywood, IL. She is survived by the love of her life, her husband Juan Urbina. Their three sons, Luis (Angelica) Sanchez, Jesse Sanchez, and Johnny (Giancarlo Rangel) Urbina. Also surviving are grandchildren Angelica (Clayton) Potter; Alexander Sanchez, Xavier Sanchez, Jesse Sanchez and their mother Maricela Sanchez. She is preceded in death by her parents, Salvador Sanchez and Mercedes Sanchez, her brother Salvador “Chava” Sanchez and her loyal dog, “Mugrosita” Urbina Adelina immigrated from Mexico to the United States in 1970 all in search of a better life for herself and her family. She was the oldest of 10 siblings. She could not speak English and somehow she achieved the American Dream. She always stood out as a hard worker and took great pride in her labor. She eventually rose the ranks and became a longtime Supervisor at Douglas Press Inc. in Bellwood, IL where she made lifelong friends. Through hard work, she and her husband have owned their home in Cicero, Illinois for the last 46 years. A home filled with happy memories of family gatherings. Adelina, understood the value of an education and completed her high school degree from St Augustine College in Chicago IL. Prior to retirement, she worked in food services at MacNeal Hospital in Berwyn, IL. Adelina was a woman of faith. Prior to closing, her home church was St. Attracta in Cicero, IL. Her final places of worship were St. Anthony in Cicero, IL, and St. Leonard in Berwyn, IL. Adelina truly enjoyed her retirement. She was a talented cook and loved preparing countless meals for her husband, family, and friends. She enjoyed traveling to her second home in Guadalajara, Mexico to visit family accompanied by her faithful dog, “Mugrosita”. She rescued her loyal dog of 10-years from the streets of Guadalajara. She was generous with all those who had less because she never forgot her humble beginnings. Adelina had a magnetic personality. Everyone who met her eventually gravitated towards her. She was trustworthy, honest and an incredible storyteller. She took great pride in looking her best whenever she walked out the door with her husband. Adelina always had a positive attitude. Above all, she always had faith that better days were ahead. Her countless sacrifices opened opportunities for her family; opportunities generations before them did not have. She will always be remembered for having the heart of a warrior, who fought until the end. A visitation will be held Tuesday, March 8th, 2022 from 3:00 PM, to 8:00 PM at Sourek Funeral Home 5645 W. 35th Street Cicero, IL 60804. Last visitation will be held on Wednesday March 9th from 9:00 AM, to 9:30 AM at Sourek Funeral Home. A procession to a funeral mass will follow. Mass will be held at 10:00 AM at St. Leonard Church 6658 33rd St. Berwyn IL 60402. Final resting place will be at Mount Auburn Cemetery 4101 South Oak Park Ave. Stickney IL 60402.
