Jay A Van Kampen

April 3, 1957 — May 7, 2020

 
 
Jay A. Van Kampen , beloved husband of Carol, loving father of Emily and adored Grandpa of Sophia, passed suddenly on May 7,2020.  

  Jay lived in Cicero his entire life.  He was a retired police officer and currently employed by FedEx.  He enjoyed his job and participated in truck rodeos winning several awards.  Jay loved a good BBQ, smashed pennies, the CUBS, music, trains and trucks , road trips to unique venues and museums.  Most of all he loved the thrill of a good estate sale.  Family was his world, marrying his "lovely bride" 37 years ago.  
He is survived by his sisters, Alice (Al) Nickles, Phyllis (Bert) Rabbers. and Mycky VanKampen, Mother in law , M.Helen Barnes (Jim Kedge),  sister in laws:  Deborah Coaker  (John Karcher) , Barbara (Bruce) Olson,  Mary Cruse,  Julie Barnes,  brother in laws George (Penny) Barnes, Kenneth (Corrine) Barnes.  Caring Uncle and Great Uncle to many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents Abe and Martha Van Kampen, father in law Tad Barnes, and brother in laws Robert Coaker and Jerry Cruse.                                   A celebration of Jay's life will take place at a later date when family and friends are able to travel and gather to share memories.
