JoAnn Ellen Sourek

JoAnn E. Sourek, 80, of Burr Ridge. The most wonderful, loving, and devoted wife of Charles J. Sourek Jr. for 60 years. The absolute greatest, thoughtful, and most loving mother of Charles J. III (Diana) and Joel (Nicole). The sweetest and most devoted Mimi to Anneliese, Ella, Emilie and Claire Sourek. Dear sister of Cindy Dangler. Fond cousin of Donna Ciszewski. Beloved aunt of Dan (Jess) Dangler and Darcy (Greg) Brumley and great aunt of 5. Devoted friend to many.

JoAnn was a graduate of Harrington Institute, where she received a degree in interior design.  She then spent several years using her talent in design to beautify the homes of many.

She was a floral designer at her mom and dad’s flower shop, City Wide Florist in the Brighton Park neighborhood of Chicago.

With a keen eye for detail and an unparalleled work ethic, JoAnn took the lead in the many business ventures she helped create.

JoAnn cherished her family. Chas and Joel were her proudest accomplishments and she absolutely adored her four granddaughters. Family was everything to JoAnn and she loved to sit on the beach and watch the sunsets and to travel the world, always with her family by her side.

In all the things JoAnn did and accomplished, it was never without her constant companion, partner and husband, Chuck. Totally devoted to each other, it was a true love story.

To all the people outside of our immediate family, please know that JoAnn loved you all. Whether it was traveling or just simply having dinner, it brought her so much joy.

A visitation for JoAnn will be held Wednesday, August 30th from 3 p.m.– 8 p.m. at Sourek Manor Funeral Home, 5645 35th Street, Cicero, IL.

Please gather at the funeral home on Thursday August 31st between 8:00 a.m. and 9:00 a.m. and process to St. Cletus Catholic Church, 600 W. 55th Street, La Grange, IL for a 10 a.m. mass. Entombment will follow at
