Kylie Conklin, age 19, passed away March 25, 2022, after battling cancer since she was 11-years-old. Kylie was a very kind and generous young woman as well as being smart and noble. Kylie was an old soul who viewed the world with love and curiosity. She appreciated the dramatic arts and aspired to a career in the theatre but, due to her illness, she couldn’t fulfill that dream, attending performances instead. She loved learning and was a straight A student. Kylie was part of an online community of passionate readers who exchanged ideas and explored new authors together. She loved taking walks in the woods with her dog Marge and cuddling and playing with her cats Sully and Dawn. Kylie faced her illness courageously and, along with Colleen Ballinger, posted an educational video on YouTube to raise awareness as well as funding for childhood cancers including neuroblastoma. Thanks to the Make A Wish Foundation she was able to attend One Direction and even met the members of the band personally, one of many thrilling opportunities she was able to embrace. These included personally meeting Ariana Grande who was her idol. Kylie also attended a camp for kids with cancer called Camp Kids are Kids Chicago. There, she was able to be with kids going through the same things she was going through and was able to be herself. She camped there for many years and was training to be a counselor. In her last days she was able to meet the stars of one of her favorite shows, The Walking Dead accompanied by her father. She even appeared on an episode of The Talking Dead as a featured fan of The Walking Dead. Kylie loved being with her family and her family feels privileged to have shared 19 wonderful years with this incredible soul. Her mother Michelle Nancy Punjak, her father Shane Conklin, Grandparents Sue Durkin and Don Altera, Grandparents Tom and Nancy Punjak, recently passed Great Grandmother Geraldine Punjak, Grandparents Kathy and Phil Rekart, and her numerous Aunts, Uncles and Cousins are heartbroken but grateful for these years.
