Rita Berkos

Rita Berkos (nee Peacock) passed away peacefully in her home on Sunday, April 11, 2021 at the age of 94. She is survived by her daughter Cindy Erickson (Joel) and Kim Kinnas (John), daughter in law Julie Berkos her sister Betty Gillig and her beloved grandchildren and great grand daughter. She was preceded in death by her husband Christy Berkos and her son Danny Berkos. Rita was raised in Chicago and lived all of her adult life in Cicero. In 1943 she met the love of her life, Christy Berkos at a dance in the park. They danced their way through 63 years of marriage, raising three children and embarking on many adventures. They were avid dancers, skiers and travelers. Rita served on numerous committees and boards and was involved in many charitable organizations which served the community. She was wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, friend and neighbor. She will be missed by all those who knew her. A memorial service is to be arranged at a later date. On Saturday June 19 th a Celebration of Life will be held for Rita Berkos. It will take place from 11:30 – 2:30 p.m. at the Chew Chew Restaurant located at 33 E. Burlington in Riverside, Il. We invite family and friends to gather together and honor Rita. No flowers please. A donation in her memory can be made to M.D. Anderson Cancer Clinic, Saint Judes or the American Cancer Society.
