Sarah Leedean Jones (Smiley) was born September 25,1956 in Yorktown Arkansas to Drucilla Trotter and L.C. Stocker. She spent her childhood in Arkansas, Michigan and Chicago. She attended William Penn grade school, graduated from Grady High School, and earned degrees from Wilbur Wright College & Malcolm X Learning Center. Sarah comes from a large loving family. She leaves to cherish her loving memory, her daughters; Ahlanta Blunt, Asia’a White, her grandchildren, Anwarr Dixson, Saniyah Brown and Ace Brown, her Son/Nephew Omarr Fisher, her Goddaughter Shatara Crawford and her Godsons Shedrick Hill and Jamal Adisa of Chicago,IL. Her Sisters, Emma Jones, Doris Jones, Roselle Nunnery and Deborah Brunson of Chicago IL, Ocielean Anderson of Star City, AR, Lizzine Bullard of Tarry, AR, Mae Ester Fowler of Niles, MI and Vessie Williams of Raytown, MO. Her Brother and Sister-in-law Earnest & Corliss Jones of Kansas, City MO and James Stocker. She also leaves to Cherish her memory a host of neices, nephews, loving friends and church family. Sarah was preceded in death by Drucilla Trotter (Mother), L.C. Stocker (Father), Christine “Mama Chris” Jones (Grandmother), Leonard White (Life Partner), Elizabeth Luckie (Second Mother), Dorothy Watson, Mae Pearl Townsend, Susie Washington and Shirley Thompson. David Trotter, Chester Jones and James Jones. Sarah devoted her life to caring for others and was employed at Ashley’s Quality Healthcare Inc. and Catholic Charities as a diligent Nurse and Caregiver. She also worked at Intercraft Inc. She was devoted to serving in the church, as a Sunday school teacher, a member of the usher board & LWML at Ebenezer Lutheran Church. She was an avid reader and volunteer at Gethsamne Lutheran Church. She loved reading scriptures and giving a testimony. She enjoyed preparing meals and koolaide for her family, friends and neighborhood children. She was a faithful volunteer in her community. She would make sure kids enjoyed their childhood by taking them to youth events, outings and programs. She Loved using her photogenic memory to reminisce about growing up in her hometown. Sarah loved to tell stories and was passionate about writing a book about her life. She was outgoing and loved to travel, she would make friends everywhere she went. Sarah was a loving mother to her kids, loving grandmother, aunt, sister and friend. She would open her home to any child in need and provide for them as her own. She would often say she was a shopaholic and loved to collect wed Knots, Sarah was also a seamstress and she was very creative at DIY projects. Sarah was loved by so many and will be truly missed. Her smile will be remembered forever. John 14:1-3 Don’t let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God, and trust also in me. There is more than enough room in my Father’s home. If this were not so, would I have told you that I am going to prepare a place for you? When everything is ready, I will come and get you, so that you will always be with me where I am.
